can someone explain what this quote means. PLEASE.

"I speak and speak, ...but the listener retains only the words he is expecting. ...It is not the voice that commands the story: it is the ear."--Marco Polo

Respuesta :

Answer:

What this quote basically means is that Marco Polo is trying to tell people things over and over again but they never actually listen to what he is trying to say. They are too sure that thier opinion( the words they are expecting) is right to actually listen and think about Marco Polo's words. Then he says that the voice doesn't command the story; the ear does. This means that someone could talk and talk but it doesn't matter unless someone listens. Basically, someone's words are useless against people who will not listen and only can influence someone if they will listen.

Explanation:

Answer: well, what Marco Polo is implying is that no matter how many times he repeats himself, and no matter what he says to the listeners, they will always pertain to their own opinion and not signify the speaker. The listener only wants to hear what they would like to hear, yet, though Marco Polo explains his points the listener will only hear his own views.

Explanation: Hope this helps! plz give brainliest if possible<3
