For women, there are things called "Sperms". There is an egg in the women. Think of colors. Say an orange sperm is a boy and a yellow sperm is a girl. If the yellow sperm reaches the egg first, the baby will be a girl. If the orange sperm reaches the egg first, the baby will be a boy. Think of it as a Sperm-race.

If two yellows, two oranges, or one of each comes to the sperm at the same time, you'll have twins.

Same with triples, quadruplets, etc, even though this is very rare.

Your body can't choose to make between boy or girl. There are 2 types of chromosomes in sperm cells, X chromosome and Y chromosome. In egg cell, there is only 1 type of chromosome, X chromosome. During intercourse, each sperm cell will fuse with egg cell. So when X chromosome from sperm cell enters the egg cell, it will form a "XX" chromosome which is girl but when Y chromosome enters the egg cell, it form "XY" which will be boy.

So your body can't predict which chromosome will enters the egg cell.
