-3(s-1) + 5s
we are going to distribute the -3 through the parenthesis...all that means is multiply -3 by everything in the parenthesis.
-3 * s + (-3)* -1 + 5s
-3s + 3 + 5s...now we combine like terms
-3s + 5s + 3 =
2s + 3
