The short story takes place in North Korea. Gyeong-hee departs from the train on route to her home, she arrives at Kim Il-sung Square where an army drill happens to take place.
Then she goes to a nearby shop that sold children's clothes to distract her child of his fear of Kim Il-sung. Gyeong-hee takes Myeong to the rally and fears that she might start crying. When they return home, he tells his wife they have to follow the rules.
On the National Day, he stays in his apartment and watches the rally through the windows. It was a rule that all the people should attend the rally. So he was found guilty.
