100 POINTS! I REPEAT 100 POINTS! PLEASE HELP!
Mr. Johnson needs to buy seed for his backyard lawn. If the lawn measures 40 4/5 ft by 50 7/8 ft, how many square feet of seed will he need to cover the entire area? One bag of seed will cover 500 square feet. If he sets his seed spreader to the highest setting and 300 square feet if he sets the spreader to the lowest setting. How many bags of seed will he need if he uses the highest setting? The lowest setting?

First you need to find the area of the lawn. To find the area of a square, you multiply two sides together. You have two sides given, which is super helpful.

I put in my calculator, (40+4/5)x(50+7/8) and this gave me the answer of 2075.7.
You need to then divide that number by 500, and divide it by 300, and then round up, cause if you round down you’re not gonna have enough seed.

2075.7/500 = 4.1514, but then this needs to be rounded up or he’ll be 0.1514 short. So he needs 5 bags for the highest setting.

2075.7/300 = 6.919, so for the lowest setting, he needs 7 bags of seed.

This should be correct.

Hope this helps :)
