3. To feed such a huge population we need to popularize the initiatives like rooftop farming (to grow vegetable on house roof) among the farmers.
4. Farmers must drift towards organic farming. To save ourselves from pollutants entering the food chain and to have sustainable agriculture we need to shift more towards organic farming, which will also help us to stop the problems of surface and groundwater pollution.

Agriculture requires the use of certain pollutants such as pesticides to ensure a good yield. When these pesticides get into the soil, they both pollute the soil and underground water.
With some areas being used intensively for agriculture, some areas get robbed of all nutrients such that the land becomes degraded and unable to carry more plants.
Some policy changes that can be made to combat these include:
- Requiring that less pollutive pesticides are used
- Practicing crop rotation so that nutrients can be recycled in the soil to avoid soil degradation.
In conclusion, pollution and soil degradation are caused by too much land being used for agriculture but they can be combated by policy and crop rotation.
