A ladder is leading against a building so that the distance from the ground to the top of the ladder is 2 feet less than the length of the ladder. Find the length of the ladder of the distance from the bottom of the ladder to the building is 10feet.

assume that the length of ladder is x

assume length of wall to top of ladder is x-2

the bottom is 10

use pythagoras to find x (hypotenuse)

should get 4 by factorising and squaring towards the end
