Down the clamorous hallways, Alice trudged to her 2nd class. She acknowledged the teacher with a head nod and fell into her seat, dropping her bags by her side. The teacher seized the moment to ask Alice why she was so late. Alice shrugged and replied, "I guess I was walking to slow or something. I mean, I got a drink of water, but that was it." Her lie was dismissed by the teacher. A murmur arose from the class. "What actually happened?" "I heard that she picks her nose in the bathroom, that mulatto," "I'm pretty sure Alice tries to wipe off all the dirt from her skin. Obviously, it doesn't work." Alice tried to ignore the terribly rude comments. She sank sown in her seat even more. It seemed that people were still making fun of her even when they stopped talking. She had no motives. She didn't condone bad behavior. Alice couldn't figure out why her classmates had been so mean. The teacher continued with the lesson while she cried. Thinking is so tiresome, Alice thought, why can't people follow the golden rule? Being made fun of is so unbearable.
