Answer/Explanation:
Body fat percentage is the percentage of body weight, which is as a result of fat. It is more in women than men.
One of the methods of calculating the percentage of body fat is hydrolysis or submerging in water method.
The person is weigh dry.
Then he/she submerged in water and expel all the air in his/her lungs. The density in water is measured(For Laurence, density in water = 1.03 grams per cubic centimetres).
With the Age and BMI known, the percentage of body fat can be calculated using the formula:
Women:
(1.20 x BMI) + (0.23 x Age) - 5.4 = Body Fat percentage
Men:
(1.20 x BMI) + (0.23 x Age) - 16.2 = Body Fat Percentage.
In the case of Laurence, he is a man.
His body fat percentage can be calculated as thus:
(120 - BMI) + (0.23 x age) - 16.2.
BMI(Body mass Index) must be calculated using the body weight(in kilogram) before submerging in water divided by body height in metre squared.
