The Zika Virus

The ultrasound of the fetus seen in the picture (right) does not look normal as the left-hand side photo.

The women infected with Zika during pregnancy are diagnosed with ultrasound examination to see fetal anatomy.

The cause is microcephaly from the Zika Virus, as the virus is found in the amniotic fluid.

Symptoms for the child will be a shrunken head with less brain development.

There is no vaccine or medicine for the child with Zika Virus.

The prognosis: The brain may be smooth with no folds for babies.

Zika is carried by a mosquito called Aedes aegypti, which outspreads through bites.
