Balance the following Reaction (write numbers in order include 1's) ____ Al + ___Fe(SO4) --> __Fe + ___Al2(SO4)3

What type of reaction is the above reaction?

Respuesta :

Neetoo

Answer:

Single replacement reaction.

Explanation:

Single replacement:

It is the reaction in which one elements replace the other element in compound.

AB + C → AC + B

Chemical equation:

Al + FeSO₄  →  Fe + Al₂(SO₄)₃

The given reaction is single replacement reaction.

In this reaction aluminium react with iron sulfate and form iron and aluminium sulfate.

This is also redox reaction. The oxidation state of aluminium on left hand side is 0. The one aluminium atom loses three electrons and gets oxidized. While the oxidation state of iron on left hand side is +2 it gain two electrons and get reduced. The oxidation state of sulfate doesn't  change in this reaction.

Aluminium is reducing agent while iron act as oxidizing agent.
