1. What is homeostasis?
2. How does the body respond to being too hot?
3. How does the body respond to being out of breath?

Answer:

1. Homeostasis is the equilibrium your body tries to establish regarding its body temperature. Your homeostasis is most regulated during the late afternoon hours and least regulated during the early morning hours. This means that if when you first wake up the A/C is blasting, you are more likely to feel very cold than if the same A/C were on during the afternoon.

2. The body normally responds to being too hot by sweating.

If the body is too hot for an extended period of time (i.e. many hours), however, it will be at risk for encountering heat stroke. At that point, it can stop sweating entirely.

3. The body responds to being out of breath by taking very fast, 'shallow' breaths, almost as if to hyperventilate.

Explanation:

I remember these concepts from Psychology 101 and Public Speaking class (where I gave a speech on heat stroke).
