The Canadian soldiers returned home from the World War I in 1916. They were victorious upon coming home. They were expecting that Canada would care for them, but not everyone received the proper treatment. Many of them had post-traumatic stress syndrome due to the war and such issue was not addressed properly. They still thought they were fighting in the war and this led to many s.uicides.

Another thing was their family life. Since they were mostly away from home, they often contracted venereal diseases because of having many contacts. So, this means that they had a higher rate of sexually transmitted diseases (STD) and it was hard to explain to their partners or girlfriends.

It was a hard time to cure such disease because antibiotics for such condition were still underway. This led to many of the soldiers being rejected at home even if they fought so hard during the war.
