Ever since the days of George Washington The USA was decidedly isolated from the rest of world and its affairs for the most parts and whatever international involvement was had was with its immediate neighbors and its own circle of influence.

This had to change in the time of World War 1 due to outside pressures and a scare that the new technology could easily bring the war to their shores.
