In the tenth year of the war, Achilles and Agamemnon clashed over the beautiful slave Briseida. When he was forced to yield her to Agamemnon, Achilles retired to his tent and gave up fighting with the Trojans.
He angrily went to the seashore, summoned his mother and asked that she beg Zeus to defeat the Trojans.
Although reluctant, Zeus promised that the Greeks would not win until he reconciled with Achilles.
