I wouldn't say they should be condemned, but also shouldn't be praised as much as they were.

Explanation:

• The entry of US and British troops into northern France began on June 6, 1944.
• The event in the West is credited with the significance of a watershed moment in World War II, but does not take into account the fact that the Wehrmacht had already suffered numerous decisive defeats at that moment. The Eastern Front (referred to in Soviet Union as the Great Patriotic War), beginning in December 1941.
• If we take into account the overall strategic picture of World War II, the attitude of our historiography, according to which the landing of Anglo-American troops in Normandy in the summer of 1944, in order not to allow the Soviet troops themselves to take the final victory over Wehrmacht, must be considered correct.
