for some inversions, it's easy
ex = Tu as mangé du gâteau au chocolat.

you've just inverted "as"and "tu" and put an hyphen to separate the two.
But when the subject is "il / elle / on" and if the verb ends with a vowel , you must add a -t- for the pronunciation...
A-il regardé la télé ? you can't pronounce it correctly
A-t-il regardé la télé ...? sounds better !

ex: tu manges ==> Manges-tu ?
but : elle mange ==> mange-t-elle ?
