A school carnival charges 10.00 to enter and 1.50 per ticket. Write an algebraic expression to represent the total amount spent. Then Noah went to the carnival with Nick and they rode 7 rides each.

Respuesta :

1.5x+10
The total would be $41 for Noah and Nick combined.

Knowing how to set this up as of it were a graph can help a lot. First realize that an EXPRESSION is needed and not an equation (with an equal sign). Next you see that you are automatically charged $10 so that would just be ADDED to the total amount of tickets that are also $1.50. To write this out you would do 1.5x (x being your amount of tickets) and 10 being the $10 fee.

Now we use this expression for Noah and Nick, since they BOTH rode 7 rides then it would be a total of 14 tickets. 1.5(14)=21. Since both of them had the entrance fee then 10 would be doubled and therefore 2*10=20. Add both up 20+21=41.
