P = 48
L = 2W - 6

48 = 2(2W - 6 + W)
48 = 2(3W - 6)
48 = 6W - 12
48 + 12 = 6W
60 = 6W
60/6 = W
10 = W

L = 2W - 6
L = 2(10) - 6
L = 20 - 6
L = 14

so the width (W) = 10 and the length (L) = 14
