The Nuremberg trials were a series of 13 trials held in Nürnberg, Germany, in 1945 and 1946 after WW II, in which former German leaders were brought to justice and indicted on crimes against peace, humanity, war and/or a common plan or conspiracy to commit.

The trials were established and directed by the International Military Tribunal consisting of representatives from the United States, Great Britain, the Soviet Union, and the provisional government of France. It was the first international trial of war criminals.
