In order to assemble the organic compounds that are necessary for life, enzymes must break down food into their building blocks. What would happen if someone was not able to produce enough amylase?

Respuesta :

Generally speaking, if a person had an overall amylase deficiency (alpha, beta, and gamma), they would naturally have hypoglycemia or low blood sugar. They would have to regularly take supplements in order to compensate for said amylase deficiency. This may put a strain on their pancreas, since their levels of insulin (decreases blood sugar) and glucagon (increases blood sugar) would become abnormal, and would increase the demand for insulin.
