Many poisonous mushrooms have bright colors that serve as the warning signal to animals that the mushroom is poisonous and by eating it they can die.

Mushroom is a fungus and most of its part is consists of underground mycelium. The part of the mushroom which is above the ground is the fruiting body of mushroom and is umbrella-like. It is called cap in which gills underside of the cap. These gills contain spores that are disperse and produce more mushrooms.

Mushrooms would need to deter potential predators even though they are largely made up of underground mycelia. Their fruiting bodies are usually above the ground.

The primary body of a typical mushroom is made up of hyphae that form a network known as mycelium. The mycelium grows horizontally under the ground and gives off above-ground fruiting bodies at intervals.

The vegetative part is the mycelium while the fruiting body is the reproductive part of mushrooms. Thus, if mushrooms are not adapted to deter potential predators, their fruiting bodies would be predated and their life cycle might end.
