Ok so you can cancel out 1/2x and 1/2x because 1/2x-1/2x=0

You are left with:

4x+4

Both expressions equal 5 when substituting 2 for x because the expressions are equivalent.

2 + 6 - 1/2 * 2-  2=5

and
