Shakespeare's monologue includes the seven ages of man or the seven stages in life of man. Stage 1 is infancy. This refers to when a man is born. Stage 2 is schoolboy, where formal education starts. Stage 3 is teenager where he becomes interested with girls. Stage 4 is young man where he is a soldier. Stage 5 is middle aged where he is wise and experienced. Stage 6 is old man where he is weak physically and mentally. And the last stage, the 7th is dotage and death.

'The seven stages of life' are mentioned in an article of William Shakespeare named "As you like it" which is a story consisting these stages. But later, a poem named "All the world's a stage" where the seven stages of life is mentioned.
• The seven stages of life :
- Infancy :- This is the first stage of life and the stage which describes the life of an infant.
- School boy :- Now, the boy is no longer an infact and has come into the second stage. The school boy has a smile in his face who dislikes going to school.
- Teenager :- This is the third stage where the boy finally matures. He is no longer a child, but a teenager who loves and misses his companion wholeheartedly.
- Army :- This is the fourth stage where the boy finally joins the army and tempts to seek the 'bubble reputation' and wants to gain importance.
- Justice :- This is the fifth stage. The boy is now wise and knows his mistakes and does not repeat them. He is now a more mature and experienced man.
- Old man :- This is the sixth stage of life when the man is old and carries a bag of medicines with him wherever he goes. He has shrinked and lost weight now.
- Death :- This is the last stage and the most pathetic one. This is the moment when the fate is quite distinct and is ready to say farewell to the Earth.
