2y=x+10
3y=3x+10
Consider the system of linear equations.
So I could solve this if the numbering wasn't infront of y... Could you explain How to solve this problem step by step with the 2 infront of Y and 3 infront of y? Deleting coments who don't explain! Not looking for just the anwser! Thank you so much!

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

u could solve it with the numbers in front of y if u wanted...by elimination.

But if u want to get rid of the coefficients (the numbers in front of the letters)...u can simply divide...but u will be stuck with fractions.

2y = x + 10.....divide both sides by 2...u want to get y by itself

(2/2)y = x/2 + 10/2....simplify.....and x/2 is the same as (1/2)x

y = 1/2x + 5

3y = 3x + 10.....divide by 3

(3/3)y = (3/3)x + 10/3....simplify

y = x + 10/3

by setting it up this way, u can solve it like this :

1/2x + 5 = x + 10/3.....then solve for x....and sub that answer into either of the original equations and solve for y.

==================================

OR...like I mentioned earlier....solve by elimination....easier to eliminate the x's

2y = x + 10........multiply by -3

3y = 3x + 10

---------------------

-6y = -3x - 30 (result of multiplying by -3)

3y = 3x + 10

--------------------add

-3y = -20.......see how the x's cancelled

y = -20/-3

y = 20/3.....and just sub 20/3 in for y back into either of the original equations to find x
