A car travels along a horizontal circular curved road that has a radius of 450 m. If the speed is uniformly increased at a rate of 0.12 m/s2, determine the magnitude of the acceleration at the instant the speed of the car is 60 km/h.

Respuesta :

Answer:

a = 0.63 m/s²

Explanation:

The car is move with uniformly accelerated circular movement  , then:

Centripetal acceleration ac is calculated as follows:

ac = v² /R

v =  60 km/h = 60000m / 3600 s = 16.67 m/s

ac =(16.67m/s )² / 450 m

ac = 0.617  m/s²

Tangential acceleration (at) :

at =  0.12  m/s²

Magnitude of the acceleration of the car to v= 60 km/h:

[tex]a=\sqrt{(ac)^{2}+(at)^{2 }[/tex]

[tex]a= \sqrt{(0.617)^{2} +(0.12)^{2} }[/tex]

a = 0.63 m/s²
