Centrosomes are the organelles present in the animal cells which are made up of two types of centrioles, a ring structure made of microtubules.

The centrosomes are present outside the nucleus in the cytoplasm which after nuclear envelope disappearance play their role in cell division.

The centrosomes play an important role during the cell division as they help organise the microtubules to form spindle fibres. The mitotic spindles help separate the sister chromatids during the mitotic phase.

Thus, centrosomes play an important role during mitosis.
