Louis XIV During the first three decades of his rule, his armies conquered numerous territories along France's borders.After this he got involved in foreign affairs and  endured wars that didn't do any good to the country,he brought impoverishing to France.

Peter the Great -aimed at modernizing Russia and was influenced by his advisers from Western Europe. He wanted to make Russia a maritime power.

He also was the first one to  agree to marriages with Russian nobility. This helped with expansion of the land.
