The strategy of "containment" is best known as a Cold War foreign policy of the United States and its allies to prevent the spread of communism after the end of World War II.

I tried :/ hope it helps

Answer:

Containment was the main doctrine guiding American foreign policy during the Cold War. One of its major tenets was that Soviet communism was an expansionist regime that aimed at promoting revolution around the world and subverting free societies. Another tenet called for the United States to oppose communist expansion worldwide by military, diplomatic and economic means. Containment would ultimately lead to implosion, which actually happened in 1989-1991. The author of the doctrine of containment is US diplomat George Kennan.

Based on the guidelines of this doctrine, the United States got involved in the Korean War in 1950, it fought in Vietnam to face communist spread in Southeast Asia in the 1960s, financed or supported armed movements or governments fighting against Soviet satellites in the developing world,  it engaged in an arms race with the Soviet Union and promoted the creation of NATO with European allies.
