Rainy Day Fun
The Summer Camp for Kids staff is planning an indoor activity for the
campers to do on rainy days. They are considering a Lego activity and
a finger painting activity. They send out a survey to all the kids who
will be coming to the camp to find out their preferences.
The staff organized the results of the survey in this table:

2. There are 26 girls that prefer Legos. This is the same story as problem 1, except we're looking in the "girls" row now. The column is kept the same.

3. The answer here is 22. Look at the "painting" column and the "total" row to find the total number of people who prefer painting.

4. The total number of girls that responded to the survey is 40. Look in the "girls" row and the "total" column.

5. There are 85 total people who responded to the survey. Look at the bottom right hand corner where we are in the "total" row and "total" column. We refer to this as the grand total (in contrast to a subtotal such as 45 boys or a subtotal of 40 girls).
