Joint attention is the concentration or focus of  two people on the same subject.It is also known as shared attention.This attention works by catching the focus one person who involves the other person to focus on the same thing through verbal indication or non-verbal signs such as pointing etc.

To make the learners follow joint attention any uncommon situation or event can be made so that social partner can respond by focusing his/her attention on that circumstance and makes communication partner to focus on it as well.
