Storage is retention of information over time and we have 3 main storage areas namely: sensory memory, short term memory and long term memory. When we receive information, it is first stored in vivid details in the sensory memory but only for a second because even though it has a large capacity, it is incapable of processing any information.

Some of the information is then transferred to the short term memory which has an average storage range of 30-45 seconds which can be higher with a little rehearsal.
