Journey of Abraham Lincoln:
Born on February 12, 1809 in Hardin County, Kentucky, the former President of America spent the formative years of his life in Southern Indiana, after a family property dispute.
After this, the family moved to Illinois, where Lincoln took up odd jobs like that of a boatman, store clerk, surveyor, militia soldier during the Black Hawk War. Speaking of early education, there was next to none formal education- he was mostly self-educated. In fact, before starting to practice as an attorney, he simply read copies of Blackstone’s Commentaries, Greenleaf’s Law of Evidence amongst other classics, borrowed from a local Law firm.
Further, in March 1836, he applied at the Sangamon County Court for the law lience which he duly received on September 9, 1836.
He was elected in the Illinois Legislature 5 times, i.e. in the years 1834, 1836, 1838, 1840 and 1844. He was known for his command over the technical knowledge and despite being one of the youngest legislators he was approached for drafting important Bills.
He was finally elected as the President of USA on November 6, 1860.
