People in the south would largely feel the same as people in the north. Sick of the opposite nations interventions and war, in the south many would dread the conflict but did not necessarily have pro-slavery ideals. Many persons in the south were low waged workers and only a few owned slaves, those being plantation owners, shipping owners, and various crop farms. To sum up, people in the south didn’t care much for the slavery aspect as many slave owners avoided wartime service, people thought their rights were violated and fought for states rights (in reference to the Virginias).
