The American Constitution was heavily based on the idea of democracy and a perfect world where people would have free speech and rights. The idea of democracy was derived from the earliest form of democracy, (direct) Roman democracy. As many people know, the Romans adopted a lot of Greek culture and ideas from taking over Ancient Greece in the times of the Roman Empire. This is what I think is how the American political process was formed from the basic standards of Greek civilizations.
Answer:
The ideas of ancient Greece’s Democracy/government heavily affected the development of the U.S. political process. Many of today’s U.S. laws and government systems are similar to those of ancient Greece. For example, The Archon was a political leader that had the power and the ability to pass and enforce laws. Today that power is held by the President of The United States. Another example would be Law and Courts. The Athenians had their own system of judges and jurors. It was said that over 200 jurors were present per case. This would be the equivalent of the modern U.S. Judicial system with only 12 Jurors present per case. This is my answer, if anything sounds wrong, please let me know. Hope this helps!
