advantages: less heavy books, no chance of forgetting materials, access to more information on the internet, provide students with computer skills which are becoming increasingly important in the workplace today
disadvantages: may be hard for some students to swap after using books up to this point, expense for families (particularly those with multiple children), may make it easier for students to waste time online during class
