If the total amount of persons that will go on the trip reachs 48, which is the sum of 8 teachers and the [tex]\frac{2}{3}s[/tex] of the students: [tex]\frac{2}{3}s+8=48[/tex].
Then, the equation that describes the situation is [tex]\frac{2}{3}s+8=48[/tex]. If we subtract 8 from both sides of the equation, and then we have [tex]\frac{2}{3}s=40[/tex], which means that s=60.
