Answer:

That which best describes the Seneca creation story is that the Great Spirit created the world from his dreams, and the world will end when his dream ends. Thus, the right answer is Option A.

Explanation:

The Abenaki legend talks about the Great Spirit who decided to fill a space full of darkness with light and life. He created with his power and ordered Tolba, the Great Turtle to form the land by coming out of the deep waters. The Spirit then carved mountains and valleys on the Turtle’s back and created the white clouds and the blue sky as well.

He was thinking what else he could put in there and while thinking went off to sleep. He dreamt of animals some four-legged and some two. He visualised some animals flying and swimming. He saw plants of various colours enveloping the ground and humans calling to each other.

The Great Spirit awakened and thought it to be a bad dream but then he saw a beaver nibbling on a branch in front of him and later saw him making his home and making arrangements for protecting it. This made the Spirit realise that it is through his dreams that he had created life and also the purpose of it. So, the legend says that one mustn’t question one’s dreams as they are one’s creation. The legend as we see comes with a moral.

Answer: The answer would be B (The Great Spirit made a great island for use by the American Indians with buffalo, deer, and beaver.)
