Summary
Between 1882 and 1943, the U.S. Severely restricted the number of immigrants from Asia who were allowed to enter the country. There were hundreds of Chinese immigrants who sought entry into America, and only the immigrant who's paper are in order can go straight away. And those who have health concerns or irregularities with papers would be sent to Angel Island. They would stay there depending on how disorganized they were. Sometimes the immigrants would be held there for 2 days,2 weeks,2 months, and in one case as long as 2 years. The Chinese immigrants in particular, raised with a traditional of public poetry. They would either write about how they're feeling or their experiences. In the early 1940s administration building of Angle Island burned, and the facilities were turned over to the Army of the war effort. After the walls were translated, efforts began to preserve the detention center and to give it a place of honor in a newly created State Park
