Which plays the greater role in the development of human behavior - nature or nurture? Why?

Respuesta :

Answer:

Nurture

Explanation:

Human behaviour is a social perspective and hence nurturing has a pivotal role in shaping the character of a human being.

Nature however is more prominent in shaping physical characteristics of an individual.

The kind of social environment, learning, teachings, moral values, human values, and other social parameters to which an individual is exposed determines his/her nature.

For example - a child whose childhood has been very disturbing usually involve in criminal activities in his/her adulthood while a child who has been trained to behave morally will definitely behave like a gentle man or woman in adulthood.

Nurture has a greater role to play in the development of human behavior.

Scholars and researchers have over the years studied human behavior and development, as well as how they are influenced by genes and their environment. To some school of thought, they believe "nature" is responsible for the development of an individual, while another school of thought believe that the development of an individual is dependent on the environment the individual lives in.

Thus, this gave birth to the "nature-nurture controversy". It is however generally believed that both "nature", that is the our genes, and "nurture", that is the environment the individual exist in, both play a role in the development of an individual.

However, recent studies have shown that the environment "nurture" plays a greater role. Not only can the environment shape the behavior of an individual, it can also influence how genes are expressed.

Therefore, nurture plays a greater role in the development of human behavior.
