One of the most important moments in the history of the United States was its independence. For that to happen, the American colonists from the 13 colonies had to fight in the American Revolutionary War that started in April 1775 and ended in 1783. Many causes started the war such as the heavy taxation imposed by the English crown such as the Navigation Acts, the Stamp Act or the Tea Act. There were also major incidents such as the Boston Massacre that accelerated the start of the armed conflict. The colonists were very angry because they had to pay a lot of taxes but they did not have any voice or representation in the British Parliament. In the end, the Continental Army -led by General George Washington- defeated the English troops with the help of France.
