If you use a mirror to concentrate the sunlight onto the pot, the mirror has to be concave.
If you use a lens to concentrate the sunlight onto the pot, the lens has to be convex.
The other kinds . . . a convex mirror and a concave lens . . . spread the light out wider, instead of concentrating it into a smaller spot.
Sunlight reflected from a mirror can be focused onto a pot of water, raising its temperature enough to pasteurize water, or cook food concave mirror or Convex lens should be used.
