The court rule that using different standards of counting in different counties was a violation of the equal protection clause and also that no alternative methods could be used within the time limit set by Title 3 of the USC (United states code). It also allowed the previous vote certification to stand and George W. Bush was announced the winner of the  Florida's electoral votes.
