The Alliance system
Explanation:
- Already at the end of the nineteenth and beginning of the twentieth century, a major reorganization of powerful capitalist countries was taking place. While the leading imperialist countries were in favor of the status quo, that is, the situation was not changing because they were in a much more favorable economic position, new states emerged on the political stage of central Europe, which felt that a "division of an already divided world" should be made.
- The first group was made up of England, France and Russia with their allies (the Entente), seeking to protect their "legal rights" acquired in colonial conquests, while the second group was represented by belligerent Germany and its ally Austria Hungary (Central Powers), who were dissatisfied with their status.
- So they sought to gain as much as possible from the already conquered colonial territories. As this was almost impracticable, Germany and Austria Hungary decided to conquer the territory which the Turkish Empire had already occupied under their rule.
