In an ordered pair the first number is X and the second number is Y.

Replace x with 3 in the equation and solve for y:

5(3) + 3Y = 8

15 + 3Y = 8

Subtract 15 from both sides:

3Y = -7

Divide both sides by 3:

Y = -7/3
