The Birmingham church is known to be one where there was the bombing and killing of civil-rights worker who was said to be called Medgar Evers and this was what made the late Tryon native Simone to wrote the song “Mississippi Goddam,”.

The event that happened on September 15th in Birmingham was known to have taken place in the 16th Street Baptist Church where there was a bombing and this was done by a white supremacist terrorist on a Sunday in the date: September 15, 1963.
