Answer and Explanation:

Estrogen causes repair and healing of the uterine wall. In the next two weeks, estrogen levels are high. It stimulate the anterior pituitary gland to secrete luteinizing hormone.

Luteinizing hormone causes maturation of the ovum by initiating the follicular phase. The dominant follicle among the group is chosen and brought to further maturation until it is ready for release. If fertilized, it transforms into corpus luteum which supports early pregnancy. LH stimulates the corpus luteum to secrete progesterone. Progesterone helps in supporting early pregnancy of the ovum is fertilized.

Progesterone causes proliferation of the uterine wall in preparation for implantation. in the next two weeks after ovulation, progesterone level rises and inhibits production of LH.
