The beginning of Mesmer´s life in Paris wasn´t easy, he arrived there practically running from Viena (his previous place of residence) after a series of personal and professional ¨unfortunate¨ events.
The adaptation was difficult since, in France, he found plenty of people who discredited him for his early past, however oddly another group of people that started to add more and more adepts believed in his practices and medical ¨procedures¨ (the ¨Animal Magnetism¨ theory mainly)
This definitely affected the French Medical Guild, that followed traditional procedures to treat different diseases or illnesses, they hadn´t respect or approved any of the ¨professional methods¨ used by Dr. Mesmer and considered him as a ¨pseudo-doctor¨.
