2x^2 + 6x - 12 - 2x + 14x^2 +4

like terms are terms that have the same variable. for example in the expression i have provided as an example, 2x^2 and 14x^2 would be like terms. you can only combine those with like variables, its the same with constants. constants are the terms without a variable, like -12 and 4, those two can be combined because they both don't have a variable like the other terms. lets take my example, the 2x^2 and the 14x^2 combine to make 16x^2, the 6x and -2x combine to make 4x, and the -12 and 4 combine to make -8. always put your answer in standard for unless told otherwise. your answer would be :  16x^2 + 4x - 8 .

Answer:

1.) Like terms, are similar terms that share a variable, or both don't have a variable.

Example- 4x + 9x =  13x

Since they both have the same variable, you are able to combine them (add them)

2.) Distributive property lets you multiply a sum by multiplying each addend separately and then add the products. Its different from other properties because the commutative property has two elements and one operation, while the associative has three elements and two operations

Example-  4( 5 + 2x). You take the 4 and multiply is to the 5 and 2x, and get 20 + 8x

3.) 3x + 4 = 16. <<<< That's an example of a two - step equation.

    3x = 12

     x = 4

4.) An inequality is a relation that holds between two values when they are different. And no, you would not use them in the real world.

I worked really hard on this. Hope it helps :))
