From a mother's perspective, the act of her husband is nonethical and tragical, a nonhuman act that she could not justify.

Her husband justifies himself due to his position and obligation. From his perspective, his act is something that is not negotiable and he must have done it.  The perspective of the solider is that he can not think about empathy or to disobey the order.

The mother's perspective is more emotional and focused on helping others in need. Father's perspective is more obliging, determined and focused on the tasks he must accomplish.
